Cornerstone S.T.A.R.S. Program is in the NEWS!

Cornerstone Christian Academy is starting off the school year with a new program called S.T.A.R.S. (Student/Teacher Action Reaching Success)  is an afterschool program available for children grades 4 through 8 which provides a planned block of quiet, teacher supported, time where students can work on their homework assignments.  Several students have already enrolled in the program and with the guidance of CCA teacher, Mrs. Georgene Sellinger, are using the time to help develop refined study skills.

The response to the program so far has been positive.  One parent wrote to the school to say:  “Our son came to us unsolicited to say that he was very glad to be participating in this program and that he felt “a weight had been lifted off his shoulders” when it came to his homework assignments.  The extension of the school day for 1 hour to allow for a structured homework period and the support from the staff has had such a positive influence already on our school experience this year.  CCA has high expectations for their students, as do we as parents…  It has taught our son the importance of good time management during his day and what can be accomplished in a short period of time when focused.”
